Contact us before returning furniture.
Do not ship or deliver an item back without return instructions and authorization from DecorationPath. Furniture may need to be returned to a specific supplier, warehouse, carrier, or manufacturer, and unauthorized returns may be refused or delayed.
Policy overview
Return and cancellation eligibility may depend on the specific product, supplier, order status, shipping status, delivery method, condition of the merchandise, and reason for the request.
Because DecorationPath offers products from multiple suppliers, not every item will have identical return or cancellation terms. Product-specific terms presented before purchase or communicated for the applicable order will control.
DecorationPath will honor rights and remedies that cannot legally be limited, including applicable rights concerning defective, damaged, misrepresented, unshipped, or incorrectly supplied merchandise.
The fastest way to protect your options is to contact DecorationPath as soon as you identify a cancellation, delivery, damage, or return concern.
Before placing an order
Customers should carefully review product and delivery information before completing a purchase.
Please confirm:
- Product dimensions and intended placement.
- Doorway, stairway, hallway, elevator, and room access.
- Color, fabric, material, finish, and configuration.
- Quantity and selected options.
- Shipping or delivery location.
- Estimated fulfillment and delivery information.
- Assembly requirements.
- Product-specific cancellation or return restrictions.
- Required down payment and financing terms, when applicable.
Natural materials and certain handcrafted products may include variations in grain, tone, texture, markings, pattern placement, or finish. These natural or expected variations are not necessarily defects.
Cancellation requests
A cancellation request should be submitted immediately after the customer decides not to proceed.
DecorationPath will review the order’s current status, including whether the order has been:
- Submitted to the supplier.
- Confirmed by the supplier.
- Prepared, packed, or processed for shipment.
- Transferred to a carrier.
- Shipped or placed in transit.
- Scheduled for delivery.
- Custom made, specially ordered, or assembled.
A cancellation is not complete until DecorationPath confirms it. Sending a request does not, by itself, stop supplier processing, shipment, delivery, or payment activity.
When the order has not entered an irreversible fulfillment stage, DecorationPath will attempt to cancel it. When cancellation is no longer possible, the customer may need to follow the applicable return process after delivery.
Continue monitoring your email and Customer Hub until DecorationPath confirms whether the cancellation was approved, denied, or converted into a return request.
Order changes
Requests to change a product, quantity, finish, fabric, configuration, delivery address, recipient, or delivery details must be made before the order reaches a stage where the requested change is no longer reasonably possible.
A requested change may result in:
- A revised product price.
- A revised down payment or financed amount.
- Additional taxes, shipping, or delivery charges.
- A new estimated fulfillment date.
- Loss of promotional pricing or product availability.
- A cancelled original order and replacement order.
- Additional identity, payment, or financing review.
No material order change will be treated as accepted until the revised terms are confirmed by DecorationPath and, where necessary, approved by the customer.
Shipment and fulfillment delays
Delivery and shipment dates may be estimates unless expressly stated otherwise. Furniture fulfillment may be affected by supplier processing, inventory changes, freight conditions, carrier delays, weather, holidays, geographic restrictions, and other circumstances.
When DecorationPath cannot ship within the promised or otherwise applicable timeframe, the customer will receive the notice, cancellation opportunity, delay option, or refund required by applicable law.
Depending on the circumstances, the customer may be offered the choice to:
- Consent to a revised shipment timeframe.
- Cancel the delayed item.
- Cancel the entire affected order when appropriate.
- Select an available alternative product.
- Receive a refund or account credit for the cancelled item.
A customer who agrees to a revised delivery estimate may still have applicable cancellation rights if the revised timeframe cannot be met.
General return eligibility
A return may be eligible when the request is made within the applicable product or order return period and all required conditions are satisfied.
Eligibility may depend on whether:
- The item is identified as returnable.
- The return request was submitted within the stated period.
- The customer received return authorization before shipping.
- The product is unused and in acceptable condition.
- Original packaging, parts, manuals, and accessories are available.
- The product has not been assembled, altered, installed, or damaged.
- The product is not a custom, clearance, final-sale, or restricted item.
- The supplier or manufacturer accepts the return.
- The return can be safely and reasonably transported.
Approval of a return request may be conditional until the returned item is received and inspected.
A return may be refused or adjusted when the item received does not match the condition or contents described in the return request.
Items that may be nonreturnable
The following categories may be final sale or subject to additional restrictions unless the item is defective, damaged, incorrect, or otherwise protected by applicable law:
Custom or made-to-order items
Products manufactured, configured, upholstered, finished, or sourced specifically for the customer.
Clearance or discontinued items
Products expressly marked as final sale, clearance, liquidation, discontinued, or nonreturnable.
Assembled or altered items
Products that have been assembled, installed, modified, stained, damaged, or materially used after delivery.
Opened restricted products
Mattresses, bedding, upholstered goods, or other products subject to hygiene, safety, or supplier restrictions.
Missing packaging or components
Products returned without required packaging, parts, hardware, manuals, accessories, or documentation.
Unapproved return shipments
Merchandise sent to DecorationPath, a supplier, or warehouse without required return authorization and instructions.
A nonreturnable designation does not eliminate rights that apply when merchandise arrives damaged, materially defective, incorrect, or materially different from the product ordered.
Condition of returned merchandise
Unless the return concerns damage, a defect, or an incorrect item, returned merchandise should generally be:
- Unused and free from stains, odors, pet hair, smoke, and damage.
- Unassembled or uninstalled when required by the return terms.
- Protected in the original or approved equivalent packaging.
- Complete with all parts, accessories, hardware, and manuals.
- Prepared for pickup or shipment according to the instructions provided.
- Returned with the authorization or reference information supplied.
The customer may be responsible for loss in value caused by use, alteration, incomplete packaging, missing components, avoidable damage, or failure to follow reasonable return instructions, to the extent permitted by law.
Photographs or video may be requested before approval to document the item’s condition and packaging.
How to request a return
Contact DecorationPath
Submit the request through the Contact & Complaints page or available Customer Hub support channel.
Identify the order and item
Provide the order reference, product, delivery date, and reason for the requested return.
Provide requested documentation
Submit clear photographs, packaging images, damage details, labels, or other information reasonably needed for review.
Wait for authorization
Do not ship, move, discard, repair, or return the item until instructions have been provided.
Follow the return instructions
Package, prepare, ship, or make the item available for pickup in the manner and timeframe stated.
Allow inspection and processing
Final refund, replacement, repair, credit, or adjustment may depend on receipt and inspection of the merchandise.
Damaged, defective, missing, or incorrect items
Contact DecorationPath promptly when an item arrives damaged, defective, incomplete, or different from the item ordered.
Please preserve:
- The product and all components.
- The original packaging and protective materials.
- Shipping labels and carton information.
- Delivery paperwork.
- Photographs of the item, packaging, and affected area.
- Any serial number, model number, or supplier label.
Depending on the circumstances, available resolutions may include:
- Replacement parts.
- Repair assistance.
- A complete replacement.
- An exchange.
- A partial refund or agreed adjustment.
- A return and refund.
- Another reasonable resolution accepted by the customer.
DecorationPath may coordinate with the supplier, manufacturer, carrier, or delivery provider when investigating the concern.
Keep the item and packaging until DecorationPath confirms that disposal, repair, return, pickup, or another action is authorized.
Delivery inspection
When reasonably possible, inspect the exterior packaging and visible condition of the merchandise at delivery.
If visible damage is present:
- Photograph the damage before removing packaging.
- Ask the delivery provider to note the damage.
- Retain copies of delivery paperwork.
- Contact DecorationPath promptly.
- Follow instructions before refusing the shipment when possible.
Signing a delivery receipt does not automatically waive rights concerning concealed damage that could not reasonably be identified during delivery.
Concealed damage should be reported promptly after discovery, together with photographs and a description of when and how the issue was found.
Refused, missed, and failed deliveries
Customers should not refuse delivery solely because they changed their mind unless DecorationPath has instructed them to do so.
An unauthorized refusal may result in return freight, storage, redelivery, supplier, or restocking charges when those charges are disclosed and legally permitted.
A failed delivery may occur when:
- The address is incorrect or incomplete.
- The recipient is unavailable.
- Building or property access is denied.
- Required elevator, gate, parking, or delivery arrangements were not made.
- The product cannot fit through the available access path.
- The customer refuses a conforming item without authorization.
- A scheduled delivery appointment is missed.
DecorationPath will review the circumstances before assessing any additional amount or determining whether redelivery, return, or cancellation is available.
Return shipping, restocking, and related costs
The party responsible for return-related costs may depend on the reason for the return.
| Reason | Possible treatment | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Damage or defect | DecorationPath may arrange replacement parts, repair, pickup, exchange, or an appropriate refund. | Prompt reporting and reasonable documentation may be required. |
| Incorrect item | DecorationPath may arrange correction, exchange, pickup, or refund without charging the customer for the seller’s error. | The item should be preserved and made available as instructed. |
| Customer preference | Return freight, pickup, supplier, or restocking costs may be deducted when disclosed and legally permitted. | The product must be returnable and meet applicable condition requirements. |
| Failed delivery | Redelivery, storage, return freight, or handling charges may apply. | Charges depend on responsibility for the failed delivery and the disclosed terms. |
| Order cancellation | Charges may depend on whether supplier processing, customization, freight, or shipment has begun. | No charge will be imposed unless supported by the applicable terms and law. |
Any applicable deduction or charge will be explained before the return is completed when reasonably possible.
Refund processing
Refunds are generally processed after the cancellation is confirmed or the returned merchandise has been received, inspected, and approved.
A refund may include the eligible amount paid, less any valid and disclosed deduction, such as:
- Return freight.
- Pickup charges.
- Restocking charges.
- Missing-component adjustments.
- Damage or loss in value caused after delivery.
- Nonrefundable services already completed.
No deduction will be made for seller-caused damage, an incorrect item, or another issue when the customer is legally entitled to a full refund.
Approved refunds are generally returned to the original payment method unless another method is required or agreed upon.
The financial institution or payment provider may require additional time to display an approved refund after DecorationPath submits it.
Refund approval, refund submission, and the date funds appear in the customer’s financial account are separate stages.
Returns involving financed purchases
A return or cancellation involving financing may require separate adjustments to both the furniture order and the financing account.
Depending on the transaction, the adjustment may affect:
- The required down payment.
- The financed purchase amount.
- The current account balance.
- Available credit.
- Posted payments.
- Account ledger entries.
- Finance charges or account adjustments.
- The order and financing-account status.
Customers should continue reviewing the Customer Hub until all return, refund, and financing adjustments have posted.
A return request does not automatically suspend an amount due unless DecorationPath confirms that the account has been adjusted or applicable law provides otherwise.
Continue following the current account terms unless DecorationPath confirms a revised balance, payment amount, payment date, account status, or other servicing adjustment.
Manufacturer warranties and product support
Some products may include a manufacturer or supplier warranty. Warranty coverage, duration, exclusions, and claim procedures are determined by the applicable warranty terms.
After an ordinary return period expires, a defect or product issue may still qualify for:
- Manufacturer warranty service.
- Replacement components.
- Repair support.
- Technical or assembly assistance.
- Another remedy stated in the applicable warranty.
DecorationPath may assist in identifying the appropriate supplier or manufacturer process, but does not expand or replace a third-party warranty unless expressly stated.
Nothing in this section limits warranty or consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
