Fair Financing

Equal Credit Opportunity

DecorationPath is committed to providing eligible customers with a fair and consistent opportunity to apply for financing as one optional way to purchase furniture.

Our Commitment Fair and consistent consideration
Applies To Every aspect of the credit process
Decision Information Provided through applicable notices

Every application deserves fair consideration.

Financing decisions are based on applicable eligibility, verification, affordability, product, account, and underwriting requirements—not on a characteristic that the law prohibits from being used to discriminate against an applicant.

01

Our fair-credit commitment

DecorationPath is committed to administering its financing application and account processes fairly, consistently, and in accordance with applicable equal-credit laws.

This commitment applies when a customer:

  • Asks about available financing.
  • Begins or completes an application.
  • Provides requested information or documents.
  • Receives an application decision.
  • Reviews or accepts financing terms.
  • Uses or manages an approved financing account.
  • Requests an account change or credit-line increase.
  • Raises a question, dispute, or complaint.

Furniture selection and financing eligibility are separate. Financing approval does not guarantee product availability, and product availability does not guarantee financing approval.

02

Characteristics protected by federal law

DecorationPath does not discriminate against an applicant in any aspect of a credit transaction on a basis prohibited by applicable law.

Federal protections include:

Protected Basis

Race or color

An applicant will not receive different treatment because of race or color.

Protected Basis

Religion

Religious beliefs, practices, or affiliations are not lawful reasons to deny or restrict credit.

Protected Basis

National origin

An applicant will not be treated unfavorably because of national origin.

Protected Basis

Sex

Financing consideration will not be based on an applicant’s sex where prohibited by applicable law.

Protected Basis

Marital status

An applicant will not be denied or discouraged solely because the applicant is married, unmarried, separated, divorced, or widowed.

Protected Basis

Age

Age will not be used unlawfully when the applicant has the legal capacity to enter into a contract.

Protected Basis

Public-assistance income

Income will not be rejected solely because all or part of it comes from a public-assistance program.

Protected Activity

Exercise of consumer rights

An applicant will not be penalized for exercising a right in good faith under applicable consumer-credit law.

Additional protections may apply under state or local law. DecorationPath will follow all protections applicable to the customer and transaction.

03

Where fair treatment applies

Equal-credit protections apply throughout the credit process, not only to the final approval or decline decision.

Fair treatment applies to:

  • Advertising and financing information.
  • Application availability.
  • Application instructions and assistance.
  • Information and document requests.
  • Identity and eligibility verification.
  • Underwriting and decision rules.
  • Credit limits, rates, and down-payment requirements.
  • Terms presented for acceptance.
  • Account servicing and payment processing.
  • Credit-line increase requests.
  • Suspension, restriction, or closure decisions.
  • Complaint handling and error resolution.
04

No unlawful discouragement

DecorationPath will not make an oral or written statement intended to unlawfully discourage a prospective applicant from requesting or applying for financing because of a protected characteristic.

General explanations of product eligibility, state availability, age requirements, required application information, financing limits, or lawful underwriting requirements are not intended to discourage an applicant.

Customer care may explain the application process but should not:

  • Predict approval or decline before an application is reviewed.
  • Tell a person not to apply because of a protected characteristic.
  • Apply different standards to similarly situated applicants.
  • Promise a particular credit limit, APR, or decision.
  • Ask an applicant to omit accurate qualifying income.
You may submit an application

A customer who meets the applicable application requirements may submit an application for consideration even when approval cannot be guaranteed.

05

Information requested in an application

DecorationPath may request information reasonably needed to identify an applicant, evaluate a request, prevent fraud, provide required notices, and administer an approved account.

Requested information may include:

  • Full legal name.
  • Date of birth.
  • Social Security number.
  • Residential and contact information.
  • Gross monthly income and income frequency.
  • Employment or source-of-income information.
  • Housing and financial-obligation information.
  • Identity-verification information or documents.
  • Information about the furniture purchase being financed.

DecorationPath will limit requests for protected information to circumstances in which the information is permitted or required for a lawful purpose.

Applicants should provide accurate and complete information. Additional information may be requested when a response is incomplete, inconsistent, unverifiable, or reasonably requires clarification.

06

How applications may be evaluated

An application may be reviewed using automated rules, manual review, or a combination of both.

Legally permissible factors may include:

  • Identity and age verification.
  • Completeness and consistency of the application.
  • Verified or reasonably supported income.
  • Existing financial obligations and affordability information.
  • The price and eligibility of the selected furniture.
  • The requested or calculated financed amount.
  • The required down payment.
  • Existing DecorationPath account activity.
  • Fraud-prevention and security results.
  • Applicable program and state requirements.

Information may be considered only for a lawful purpose and may not be used to discriminate against an applicant on a prohibited basis.

07

Fair consideration of income

Income that an applicant wants considered should be evaluated according to lawful standards concerning amount, consistency, availability, reliability, and the applicant’s right to receive or use it.

Depending on the circumstances, income may include:

  • Employment income.
  • Self-employment income.
  • Retirement or pension income.
  • Social Security or disability income.
  • Public-assistance income.
  • Investment or rental income.
  • Other lawful recurring income the applicant chooses to disclose.

DecorationPath may request reasonable documentation to determine whether income is available, sufficient, and likely to continue. Documentation requirements should be applied consistently to similarly situated applicants.

An applicant is not required to disclose alimony, child support, or separate-maintenance income unless the applicant wants that income considered, except where disclosure is otherwise lawfully required.

08

Marital, spouse, and household information

DecorationPath will not require a spouse or another person to apply jointly unless that person’s participation is legally and reasonably necessary for the requested credit transaction.

Information concerning a spouse or another person may be requested when permitted, such as when:

  • The person will use or be contractually responsible for the account.
  • The applicant relies on the person’s income.
  • The applicant relies on jointly owned property or obligations.
  • Applicable property law makes the information relevant.
  • The information is necessary to determine permitted account rights.

A request for legally relevant household or spouse information does not authorize different treatment based solely on marital status.

09

Possible financing decisions

After reviewing an application, DecorationPath may issue an applicable decision or status.

Decision

Approved

Financing terms are available for review, subject to the conditions and product information shown.

Decision

Conditionally approved

Approval depends on additional verification, documents, down payment, purchase, or other disclosed conditions.

Status

Pending review

Additional information, verification, or manual review is needed before a final decision.

Decision

Declined

The application was not approved, and the applicable notice will explain the principal reason or available right to obtain the reason.

Status

Cancelled

The application or transaction was discontinued before completion.

Status

Withdrawn

The applicant chose not to continue or did not complete the process under the circumstances described in the notice.

A financing decision is separate from supplier confirmation and furniture availability.

10

Adverse-action notices

When required, an applicant will receive an adverse-action notice after a covered unfavorable credit decision.

Adverse action may include circumstances such as:

  • Declining a completed application.
  • Refusing a requested credit-line increase.
  • Terminating an existing account.
  • Making a covered unfavorable change to account terms.

The notice may provide:

  • The specific principal reasons for the action.
  • Information about how to request the reasons, when permitted.
  • The identity of an applicable consumer reporting agency.
  • Information about rights concerning a consumer report.
  • The required Equal Credit Opportunity Act notice.
  • Applicable regulator or agency information.
Important Decision Information

Reasons should describe the actual decision.

When specific reasons are required, the reasons provided should accurately identify the principal factors that actually contributed to the adverse decision.

A general statement that an applicant failed to satisfy internal standards may not adequately explain a decision when more specific reasons are required.

Applicants should retain adverse-action notices and review all instructions, deadlines, agency information, and dispute rights included in the notice.

11

Automated rules and manual review

DecorationPath may use technology, decision rules, calculations, or automated processes to assist with application review.

The use of technology does not eliminate the obligation to:

  • Apply lawful decision standards.
  • Avoid discrimination on a prohibited basis.
  • Maintain reasonable decision records.
  • Provide accurate decision information when required.
  • Escalate applications for manual review when appropriate.
  • Correct identified errors.

An automated system should not be used as a reason to provide an inaccurate, vague, or unrelated explanation for adverse action.

Technology may support a decision, but it does not replace DecorationPath’s responsibility to administer the credit process lawfully and consistently.

12

Fair treatment of existing accounts

Equal-credit protections may continue after an account is opened. Existing customers should not receive unlawful different treatment in account servicing because of a protected characteristic.

This includes decisions involving:

  • Payment processing.
  • Account access.
  • Credit availability.
  • Credit-line increase requests.
  • Account restrictions.
  • Suspension or closure.
  • Customer-service assistance.
  • Collection or recovery activity.
  • Error and complaint handling.

Account action may still be taken for lawful reasons, including nonpayment, returned payments, fraud concerns, misuse, account inactivity, inaccurate information, security concerns, or other events addressed in the account agreement.

A lawful account action should be based on the applicable account facts and terms—not a prohibited basis.

13

Questions, errors, and corrected information

Contact DecorationPath promptly if you believe application or account information is inaccurate, incomplete, associated with the wrong person, or affected by an identity or documentation error.

Examples may include:

  • An incorrect name, address, date, income amount, or account reference.
  • A document attached to the wrong application.
  • A payment or balance applied to the wrong account.
  • Incorrect application-status information.
  • A suspected identity-verification error.
  • A decision reason that does not appear to match the application.

DecorationPath may request documentation or identity verification before changing sensitive information.

Providing corrected information does not guarantee that a decision will change, but the information may be reviewed when reconsideration is available or required.

14

Reporting a fair-credit concern

A customer who believes they were unlawfully discouraged, discriminated against, or treated inconsistently may submit a complaint for review.

Please provide:

  • Your name and non-sensitive contact information.
  • The application or account reference, if available.
  • The date or approximate date of the event.
  • A description of what occurred.
  • The communication, decision, or account action involved.
  • Any supporting document, screenshot, or correspondence.
  • The resolution or explanation you are requesting.

DecorationPath will not retaliate against a person for submitting a good-faith concern, requesting an explanation, disputing an error, or exercising an applicable consumer right.

Submitting a complaint does not extend a legal deadline unless applicable law specifically provides otherwise.

Preserve your records

Keep copies of applications, notices, agreements, emails, documents, screenshots, and other records related to your concern.

15
